On pourrait craindre des interprétations poussiéreuses ; il n'en est rien. Battistini n'est jamais banal ou ennuyeux, toujours surprenant et inventif.

Battistini had an exceptional voice, both in range and flexibility. His incomparable technique allowed him to conserve it for 50 years, to the jealousy of future generations who often retired before he did. Battistini personally knew the great composers of his time, such as Wagner, Verdi, Puccini, Massenet, Thomas. That's why in his recordings of their works, his inimitable and irreproachable style have such importance for us today. Instead of being museum relics, Battistini's recordings are alive and exciting.
